Game 6 tonight in Smashville.
It is the morning of game 6. Yet another big game and yet another chance to put away the Nashville Predators. I wonder what Shane O’Brien is up to today, prehaps we will get a tweet or two from him today. Probably not from a casino this time like he was at Edgewater Casino in Vancouver the night before game 5.
They may not have a Kesler, but they have a Joel Ward! Joel Ward has been having a playoffs to remember. After collecting only 10 regular season goals, he has 7 in the playoffs to go along with 5 assists. Not too shabby. He has easily been their best player. It seems he is always on the ice when a goal is scored for the Preds.
Trotz finally let his players open the ice and play with a little less defensive structure. It seemed to work with the 4-3 victory forcing this game 6 tonight. How AV and the Canucks counter that unheard of attack will be interesting to see. Every game except game 5, the Canucks dominated. out of the 18 periods played in this series, 14 of them the Predators have had 9 shots or less. If that trend continues, and history tells us it will. I do like the Canucks chances coming into tonight’s game.
I do expect the Predators to come out flying and it is up to the Canucks to withstand that initial attack and counter. They have the speed and the luxury of having 4 lines as the 3rd and 4th lines have done their jobs quite well. Higgins and Lapierre seemingly have fit in nicely and continue to be a noticeable force on the ice.
I doubt it will be another 4-3 scoring game as I look for the Canucks to have a better defensive game. I am thinking of another 3-2 game, and hopefully they finish off the series tonight.

Game 4 post-game
Erhoff 3pts, Kesler 3pts, Hank 3pts…….Wait…..Did I say that correctly??? Hank….Hendrik had 3 points tonight??? Yes peoples, Hank finally broke the slump with 1 goal(empty net) and 2 assists. Now we shall see if he will end up on the side of a milk carton comes next game, or hopefully it is a sign of things to come.
If you want to look at the heart and soul of the Canucks team, look no further then Ryan Kesler. The guy is a BEAST. Takes a 2 on 1, splits through the defense and scores a beauty! Adds 2 assists(1 assist on a broken stick) as well. Once again he showed how much he has grown as a player and he is a true playoff preformer. He easily is the Canucks MVP of the playoffs to date.
Erhoff had 3 points, but he still hasn’t had a great series. He gives up the puck and doesn’t seem as reliable as he once was in the season. Bieska is a total dude and if it were me, Erhoff is gone in the off-season and Boom Boom is in(and prolly some Boom Boom t-shirts as well).
Luongo is well…..Luongo…..I heard a stat today that goes back through 54 games. That stat is rather impressive, through 54 games(including the 2 blowouts in the Chicago series) he has a GAA of 1.94! Yikes! No wonder he has swag and says “I have been seeing the puck well for 5 months now” . and rightfully so!
With the Canucks up 3-1 and the remaining NHL playoff series at 3-0 leads, its looking like the conference finals are shaping up to be Boston-Tampa and Vancouver-San Jose.
Tonight was a big win for the boys, and it’s looking like their 1st trip back to the conference finals since ‘94. Go get it boys!

Game 4 Thursday 5:30PM Canucks vs Preds
So, tomorrow is as usual, another big game. Canucks can put a strangle hold on the Predators at 3-1, or the Preds can tie the series up 2-2. It was nice to see one of the top 6 other then Burrows start chipping in, in Kesler. It isn’t as if he has played badly, we all just hadn’t seen the 41 goal scoring Kesler. In my eyes, Kesler is built for playoff hockey. He just needed that scoring monkey off his back. Maybe he will loosen up a bit now and even prehaps have a couple “interview bombs” as well :P He kills penalties, takes the majority of the face-offs, plays on the 1st PP unit with Dank, and is constantly up against Weber and Suter. He is a force on the Canucks team and is a physical and emotional leader of this team. He needs to keep it up if the Canucks want to move forward.
As I tweeted earlier today, there are some missing components from this team. And their mother is very worried as to there where-abouts. Hank and Daniel have been pretty much non-exsistant since Game 3 of the Hawks series. Sure, Daniel has 8pts this post-season, but he still hasn’t shown up against the Preds, nor has his brother. As stated above, Kesler and his linemates are seeing the majority of Weber and Suter, so that puts the twins up against the 2nd line of defense in Blum and Franson. Sure they are NHL caliber D-men, but these are the back to back Art Ross and possible Hart trophy winners we are talkin about. Time to step up boys. If you want to leave a legacy in this town, it’s got to start sooner then later.
I’ll leave it at that for now, I will post by post game thoughts tomorrow after the game and how I saw the game through my eyes. G-nite.

So…..I am gonna try and work on blogging……
We shall see how this goes. I am wanting to fill some of my time trying to start actually blogging. Mainly it will be about hockey. Mainly the Canucks I would think seeing as they are my favourite team.
Hopefully I catch on and keep it up.
